All the visible surfaces of the casket are decorated with attractive naturalistic scenes rendered in “Berniz de Pasto”. The Colombian artist endeavours in this type of work to duplicate the effect of oriental lacquer. At the time oriental items were arriving in South America via the Philippines and the Acapulco Route. |
