RITUAL LADLE

Bronze
Dong Son Culture, Vietnam or Canbodia, Circa 200 BC-200 AD
Ø 9 cm

A bronze ritual ladle with a short handle and a dense encrusted green patina. This ritual object is from the Dong Son Culture of the late Bronze Age. The ladle is decorated with a pattern consisting of a sequence of concentric arches in relief around the exterior of the mouth. This is an unusual piece, certainly produced for ritual purposes of lustration in a religious context.
