| FOLDING LECTERN Various Woods , Metal and Bone Mexico (?) 17/18th century 40 x 2 7x 37 cm (open) Folding lectern, of an Oriental type with inlay work in various woods and bone. The model is ultimately based on an Islamic folding Koran stand, consisting of two equal length crossed boards. Examples of lecterns arriving in Mexico via the Acapulco route probably were the source of inspiration for this unusual example inlaid in various woods with a central star motif. |
