Although our main interest is oriental art we stock some items of European furniture. We favour 17th century furniture as, in our opinion, it is more sympathetic to oriental sculpture and the other oriental items we display. We are particularly fond of German. Flemish, Italian and Spanish cabinets and luxury materials such as tortoiseshell, ivory and mother of pearl. We like 17th and 18th century portraits for their evocative qualities, the richness of costumes portrayed and because they are an important element in suggesting a cultural context for a set period.
